While the country is fixated on Donald Trump’s shenanigans and the associated fallout, Republican senators are moving right along with their awful health care bill. They have expressed intentions to vote on the bill by the end of June, which is right around the corner. Significantly, however, they are doing so in secret. And they are keeping their secret from the Democrats in the Senate.
It took 14 months and over 79 committee hearings to pass the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare); however, Senator McConnell and his fellow Republicans are getting set to vote on their health care bill to replace Obamacare right away with NO hearings. Even more sinister is the plan that no Democrat will see the bill before it is brought to the floor for a vote. This is unprecedented.
I would guess that only avid news followers are aware of what the Republicans are doing. There is a video clip of Senator Claire McCaskell of Missouri complaining in the Senate about the Republicans brazen move; however, Democrats should be more vocal and explain to the public what is happening. They need to make this situation more widely known. It is precisely what the Republicans would do if the shoe was on the other foot.
